LEGISLATION Ed Curran, President & Legislative Representative Legislative Report by Ed Curran Governor's 2008 -- 2009 Task Force On Friday, October 3,2008 1 was contacted by David Weinstein, Assistant Counsel to the Governor, who requested I meet with him on Friday, October 10, 2008, in the Governor's Office in the Capitol, in Albany relative to the Governor's proposed Task Force. I contacted Tony Perrone (NYC Pt)) the new President of the Alliance arid asked if he was available to accompany me, which would be an opportunity to introduce him to the Counsel. Present at the meeting were Governor's Counsel Weinstein, Evan Antonio, Principal Budget Examiner, Stan Winters, President and Mike Fitzgerald, Executive Director, both of the Retired Public Employees Association, Tony Perrone and myself'. The discussion that ensued, as was expected, concerned Governor Patterson's 2008-2009 Task Force, which is to study the matter ot'public retiree health insurance protection. At the conclusion of our meeting the Governor's Counsel requested that we treat today's Task Force discussion as a matter of confidentially, until the Governor makes public the details relative to his Task Force. We are not sure just when that will be, but with elections coming up you don't know it-he will decide to release it before or after Election Day.
